There was a time in my life where I claimed Iglooghost‘s music to be my religion. That’s really my best attempt to describe how avant-garde his work is. Like a lot of works I’ve been grateful for, it’s difficult to describe by its nature, and not really like anything else I’ve found to compare it to – which is all the more reason why I’ll do my best to share the good word.
His songs are interwoven with chiefly British pop, grime and UK electronic influences, but also something else that is unidentifiable. Should you try to read up on the inspiration behind his albums, you’ll find stories of ancient trans-dimensional beings that look like fridge drawings, mixtures of modern occult myths, and nomadic tales with Iglooghost as his own protagonist. It’s quirky like nothing else is, and yet his producing talents effortlessly suspends the disbelief that you’re listening to music from a tangential universe.
Clear Tamei is both a marvel of an experimental song, and a surprisingly well-produced video to match. There’s fictional languages, breakbeat segments and sub-bass melodies throughout, paired with great CGI cinematography and trippy visuals (in a very-possibly-literal sense). Perhaps it will sway your beliefs as it did mine.
