I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when PSYQUI released a gabber song, of all the forty-odd EDM niches I’ve dug into. Despite the surprise, it’s one of the most enjoyable I’ve heard in the genre to date. Everything about the build-up, pattern switches, breaks and mastering feels unreal, and the electro-swing sections perfectly tie all of the more intense, less melodic parts together.
This kind of exploration, finding genres reinterpreted by artists out of their comfort zone, is what tends to grab my attention the most – and it certainly makes me glad when a more popular artist gives it a try. No matter your preference on hardcore EDM, I would heavily recommend looking through some of PSYQUI’s more popular and familiar tracks as well.
